New Caledonia Boat Charter
7 Days Of Uncrowded Pacific Perfection.
Where is New Caledonia ? New Caledonia is a French territory Located around 2.5 hours flying from Sydney. And 1500 kms North East of Brisbane. It is a tropical paradise with hundreds Km's of uncrowded perfect surf. Its location means it receives the same powerful ground swells as Fiji.
How do I get there ? There are direct flight from Sydney, flying time is 2.5 Hours – From the airport it is only a 45 minute bus ride to Noumea Harbour where your boat is moored.
When should I go ? – Generally April to September is the best time, this is when the deep lows generated off the coast of Tasmania steam through the Tasman Sea and create perfect long interval ground swells. The winds are trades from the South East and are genrally off shore at most breaks
Who Should Go ? – Intermediate to Advanced Surfers, both Short and Longboards – All the breaks are reef passes and the coral is hard and sharp. The swells are generally more powerful than surf in Australia if the tide is low the surf can spit out a little bit like Teahupoo, but don’t worry when the tide comes in the wave becomes more mellow with long workable walls.
What is the surf like ? In a word Perfect! with hundreds of reef passes and a boat there are so many options available even on small days, if there is any swell in the Tasman Sea New Caledonia cops it and Christophe your locals guide will find it.
The Weather – New Caledonia has sub tropical temperatures – it is known as the land of the Eternal Spring. April to September are the dry and cooler months temperature range of 20 to 27 C and the water is usually around 22 to 24 C rashies are usually all that required although springies should be taken for the windier days.
Are there any crowds ? - No, its just you and your mates - with so many options available and so few surfers you can spend the whole week without seeing another surfer apart from your mates.

Surf Breaks
Here is just a sample of some of our favourite breaks.
Froggies -
Awesome left that works from up to 3m, heavy at low tide better when the reef fills in a bit
DejeVu -
Breaks Just Like Froggies a barreling left that is offshore in the trade winds (pictured above)
Aka’s -
Next Pass from Daje Vu another left that works in anything up to 3 metres, the take off is intense and then you can slot into a nice barrel don’t forget to pull off before the reef eats you.
Skatepark -
Long fast left that can start at the take off point at only 0.5m and grows as it swings down the reef to a solid 2m. This wave can be heave but get it right and you will have one of the best rides of your life.
Lighthouse -
Lighthouse is one of the best rights, close to Noumea it can work from anything from 1 to 3 has a nice take off and barrel section – watch out for the reef. Booties a must here
Dumbea -
Left long fast barrel. The take off point can dredg from below sea level. Then it settles into a long steady wall, can get barrelled and can be a race to keep up. Works in big swell on low tide
Isie -
Incredibly fast Right hand barrel. No time to think just go, Finishes in shallow water. - Booties recommended
Ouano -
One of the the best waves on the trip. When its on and all three sections that link up it is a good as you get. Takeoff outside and pull in for a short tube, then settle in for the ride, you can maek 5 or reo's on this wave so your legs are jelly at the end. Pefect
